I choose high end essential oils that the brand company will share the GC/MS reports with the buyer. I make sure that my essential oils are 100% pure with no added fillers or unwanted chemicals.

I make sure that when using essential oils on my kids I dilute properly. And you should too. I don’t want my kids to have to go thru the pain of having a bad reaction to an essential oil that I didn’t dilute, and I wouldn’t want your kid to either. That’s why I have this post The Ultimate Guide to Essential Oil Dilution available to you.

I also have dogs and they are family too. I am super aware that essential oils effect dogs differently than humans. Their noses are super strong and when diffusing essential oils, they can smell them much stronger than humans can. So, I always make sure they can leave the room, or I let them outside if I think it will be too strong for them. Protect your pups from have a bad reaction from essential oils. Since this post is primarily about kid safe diffuser blends, I won’t talk more about dog safety. But just so you know, every recipe blend in this post is also safe for your dog too.

Kid Safe Essential Oil Diffuser Blends

One of my favorite blends is Vanilla, orange and coffee. It picks up my mood and takes away the feeling of laziness. I really enjoy it in the afternoon when I’m starting to crave coffee when I know I shouldn’t drink any because it will keep me up at night. The coffee in this blend helps with those coffee cravings. If you love the smell of vanilla or prefer to have more of a vanilla scent go ahead and add two drops instead of one.

Pick Me UP Blend

  • 3 drops Coffee
  • 2 drops Orange
  • 1 drop Vanilla

This blend is a new blend I made up and has lots of great substitutions. If Patchouli isn’t your thing, you can substitute it with more cedarwood, it will have a totally different smell, but smells good just the same. You could also swap the vanilla and patchouli using 2 drops vanilla and 1 drop of patchouli. If you don’t have mandarin, feel free to use tangerine or sweet orange.

Bliss

  • 4 drops Mandarin
  • 2 drops Patchouli
  • 1 drop Vanilla

This next one is an adaptation for my indigestion personal inhaler recipe. I love the scent of these three together so I thought why not diffuse it too.  For the indigestion recipe click HERE. You could diffuse this after a meal, to help with full bellies.

Belly Bubble Pop  (Sorry, I just couldn’t think of something relevant to name this)

  • 4 drops Sweet Orange
  • 3 drops Rosalina
  • 2 drops Cedarwood Atlas

I try to stay away from expensive essential oils when  making recipes to share with you. But this one is helpful for falling asleep and if you’ve tried everything else, this might do it for you.

Sleepy Time

  • 3 drops Roman Chamomile
  • 3 drops Lavender (Bulgarian)
  • 2 drops Vetiver

I love citrus blends. They are so refreshing and uplifting. They are great for diffusing anytime of the day, but I love them especially in the morning. For some added depth try adding 2 drops of spearmint to this blend.

Citrus Explosion

  • 3 drops Lemon
  • 3 drops Sweet Orange
  • 2 drops Grapefruit

And for our final blend, I must use some woodsy smelling essential oils. It’s a bit different, but you might love it.

Dark Woods

  • 4 drops Cypress
  • 2 drops Black Pepper
  • 2 drops Bergamot

Now to use, add the drops of essential oils from the recipe you wish to try into an ultrasonic essential oil diffuser. Add your water to the fill line. (You can also add the water first). Replace cover and set for 15 to 30 minutes. I recommend diffusing 10 minutes on, 20 minutes off, but most diffusers don’t run like that. What I do, is turn on my diffuser and let is run till I smell it through-out the room, usually 15 minutes. Then I shut it off. I’ll repeat this again in an hour or so.

So there you have it, 6 diffuser blends that are great for kids and dogs. I’d love it if you’d leave me a comment and let me know what blend you’re excited to try!
