Energizing Essential Oils

I’ve compiled a list of 9 best essential oils that are helpful for boosting your energy, eliminating any mental fatigue you may have and to help elevate your mood so you can have a productive and happy day.

Sweet Orange Essential Oil

Sweet Orange, as everyone knows, is a citrus fruit. The refreshing, zesty sweet aroma of the orange peel is perfect for uplifting your mood, thus providing you with a boost of energy. Sweet orange is also an anti-depressant that helps with nervous anxiety, depression and insomnia, all things that could deplete energy. Orange essential oil can help your mood, give a lift in motivation, and just plain make you happy. If you don’t have sweet orange, any other citrus should give you the same results.

How to Use Energizing Essential Oils

My favorite way to use these energy boosting essential oils is by way of inhalation with a personal inhaler.  They are easy to make and even easier to use.  For more information on making and using personal inhalers please read my post How to Use a Personal Inhaler with Essential Oils.

A personal inhaler is a small tube-like device that contains a cotton wick. You add essential oils to the wick and inhale through the nasal opening on one end. You want to use a personal inhaler when you are on the go, around others who do not want to or can’t use essential oils and when you want to get the benefits faster than other uses.  I’ll share more information on how to use a personal inhaler later in this post.

How Many Drops In a Personal Inhaler

When making a personal inhaler you want to use 15 drops of essential oils for teens or adults. For children you may want to use less, usually 7-8 drops. I’ll share more tips on using personal inhalers with children later in this post.

Personal Inhaler Recipes

Most of these recipes are safe for your children.  All are safe for adults including pregnant and nursing mothers.

Making Your Personal Inhaler

Now that we have the recipes let’s make a personal inhaler with our energizing essential oils.

You will need:

  • Empty Personal Inhaler
  • Essential Oils
  • A small glass or metal bowl or paper towel
  • Tweezers

First disassemble the inhaler. Place the cotton wick in the glass bowl. Drop the 15 drops of essential oils from the recipe of your choice onto the cotton wick. Use the tweezers to soak up any drops that landed on the glass bowl.

Alternately if you are super careful, you can place the cotton wick on a folded paper towel and add the drops that way.

Use the tweezers to slide the cotton wick into the nasal piece of the inhaler. Reassemble the inhaler.

How to Use Your Personal Inhaler For Energy Boosts

Place the nasal opening of the personal inhaler up to your nostril and breathe in deeply 1-3 times per nostril. You may repeat this several times per day.

If headache or nausea occurs discontinue use and get fresh air.

Tips for Using with Children

Children under the age of 6 may find that the whole 15 drops of essential oils are too strong for them. Use 7-8 drops (half the recipe) instead.

Do not insert the nasal opening into the nostril when using with small children. Instead wave the inhaler back and forth in front of your child’s nose while they breathe normally.

I do not recommend using a personal inhaler on children under the age of 2. Use a diffuser instead. Read about using an ultrasonic diffuser CLICK HERE.

I encourage you to read my post on using a personal inhaler. Again, you can find it HERE.
