The important parts

First, we have the essential oils, the most important part in relieving your symptoms.

  • Sweet orange, fresh squeezed orange zesty scent is perfect for this.
  • Rosalina, a new oil to me, smells divine.
  • Followed by cedarwood Atlas, gives it a slight woodsy scent.

Then we will need a personal inhaler, you can find these for a decent price on Amazon. They look similar to a tube of lip balm and fit perfectly in your pocket or purse.  To use these, you simply add the essential oils to the cotton wick that comes with it. More on this later.

What is Indigestion?

Maybe we need to dig a little deeper and find out what causes indigestion or commonly known as heart burn. I know I get indigestion when I eat certain foods, especially those with a spicy kick.

According to Wikipedia indigestion is “… also known as dyspepsia or upset stomach, is a condition of impaired digestion.” Well, that’s no help.

From webmd.com we get “…that full, uncomfortable sensation in your belly during or after a meal. You might have burning or pain in the upper part of your stomach, too.”  There, that’s much better and more relatable.

Other symptoms include bloating, belching and gas, nausea and vomiting, an acid taste in your mouth, growling stomach, or belly pain.

If you’ve experience any of these symptoms you may be experiencing indigestion.

Now, I’m not a doctor, so please do see your doctor if you experience this situation often or causes to much discomfort. Here’s my disclaimer.

What causes Indigestion?

  • Eating to fast or to much.

  • May be worse when stressed and fatigue.
  • Certain diseases may cause indigestion such as GERD, infections, thyroid disease, and others.
  • Some medications may cause indigestion such as Aspirin.
  • Drinking to much alcohol.
  • Smoking may cause indigestion.

So now that we have the what and why’s lets move onto the recipe that will help relieve your indigestion issues.

indigestion Recipe

You will need:

  • Sweet orange (wild orange will work too) essential oil
  • Rosalina essential oil
  • Cedarwood Atlas essential oil (I have not tried other Cedarwood essential oils but I’m sure you could substitute one of the other for this.)
  • A personal inhaler.

You can find a personal inhaler on Amazon for an inexpensive price, they have both plastic and aluminum inhalers. I recommend the aluminum inhalers because some essential oils will eat through plastics.

Please use high quality essential oils. Please read the following post on choosing high quality essential oils for more information.

Now, lets build your indigestion personal inhaler.

Everything in one place!

Place the cotton wick in a glass or metal bowl. You could also place it on a folded paper towel if you are very careful with your essential oil drops.

Add the following drops to the cotton wick.

  • 7 drops sweet orange essential oil
  • 5 drops Rosalina essential oil
  • 3 drops Cedarwood Atlas essential oil

Insert the wick into the personal inhaler and place the top on. Ta dah! You have just created your own personal inhaler for indigestion. Smells great, doesn’t it?

To use this, simply take one to three deep inhales from the opening of your inhaler. Repeat as needed.

The inhaler should last up to two months depending on how often you use it. Keep the lid on it when not in use to last as long as possible. When the scent begins to diminish simple reapply the essential oils to the wick.

And there you have it. Your own personal inhaler to help relieve the symptoms of indigestion. I’d love it if you’d leave a comment below. I’d especially love it if you would let me know if this worked for you. Enjoy!
