What I Wish I Knew About Essential Oils Back Then

Essential Oils are usually a mysterious thing to most people. They were for me for a while. If you don’t have the time to read everything there is on the internet and devour every book available, then you just don’t know if they are safe and what you can do with them. It is a frustrating thing to have cute little bottle of essential oils that smell good but have no clue how to use them safely. That’s why I created Essential Oil Reference Guides. And in this post, I’ll give you my Lavender Essential Oil Reference Guide for free. Keep reading to hear my story about how I started with essential oils and why I created these Reference Guides.  If you don’t have the time to read the post, and just want the freebie, then click HERE

My First Experience With Essential Oils

My first experience with and essential oil was at a winter bazaar. A couple of women were selling essential oils, and they were telling me about one of their weight loss essential oils. She said that just one drop on the tongue kept her from having food cravings for hours. She encouraged me to try it. So, I dropped a single drop on the back of my hand and licked. OMG! I actually “woooo’d” out loud and everything looked my way. The little drop of oil was super potent. I remembered thinking that this stuff was so strong I wouldn’t be able to even consider trying it out because I just didn’t do well with strong flavors. It was even worse then the spiciest thing I had eaten.

Little did I know back then that what I had just ingested, was bad for my kidneys. I’m lucky that I just browsed essential oils that day at the bazaar and didn’t purchase anything. It wasn’t till a few years later that I began my journey with essential oils.

What I Wish I Wish I knew About Essential Oils Back Then

I don’t know about you, but when I first started out with essential oils, I didn’t know who to trust when it came to safety. I wanted to know if essential oils were safe for my kids, my dogs, and my pregnant sister-in-law. I knew that something was not right when I was told that, “Don’t worry, they are 100% natural, so that makes them safe.” So, I purchase a few books and while I found out lots of information on essential oils there really wasn’t anything in black and white saying essential oils were safe for my kids or dogs.

So, I spent the next few years just admiring the cute little bottle of essential oils that I had. I rarely used them. If I did, I was only on myself, because I wouldn’t take the risk with my family. Finally, I stumbled upon Using Essential Oils Safely on Facebook. I quickly absorbed everything they had on the free section of their website. I had finally found my straightforward answers for all my safety related questions on essential oils. Now I know I can use tea tree, diluted on my son’s warts. My husband uses tea tree for everything. Lemon essential oils is wonderful for kitchen cleaning and has no harmful effects to my kids or dogs.

I’ve learned all about proper dilution, what essential oils shouldn’t be used topically when you are in the sun, not to ingest essential oils if I want to keep my liver and other organs healthy and so much more I can’t even list everything I’ve learned.

Now, I would not say that I’m an expert, but I do know quite a bit about essential oils. I’ve scoured the internet and read so much that I found myself with so much conflicting information. I find that Using Essential Oils Safely is my best bet for finding true and accurate information on essential oils.

But what about you? Sure, you could go and read everything that I’ve read and search through Using Essential Oils Safely like I did (I encourage you to do so), but wouldn’t you like something that is easy to read, quickly absorbed and straight to the point?

That’s what I would have liked years ago when I first started my journey with essential oils.
