What is Anxiety and Stress?

First, what is anxiety and stress?  Anxiety is exaggerated worry about everyday life in a nutshell. Stress is a way for the body to react during harmful or anxious events such as arguing with a spouse. It’s the bodies “fight or flight” response. Both anxiety and stress pop up in everyday life. One person may deal with stress or anxiety different than another person may and what causes these people stress and anxiety can differ greatly too.

The Calming Essential Oils

Now that we know what anxiety and stress are, we can help relieve symptoms with some essential oils. We will use Bergamot CP (CP for cold pressed extraction method), Mandarin and Vanilla.  If you’ve looked around my website, you know that essential oils are strong and potent plant extracts. Their constituents, or what they are made of, are what make up the properties that help us with our symptoms such of those from anxiety and stress. Limonene and lynalyl acetate are the main constituents in Bergamot CP, which are calming. Mandarin also contains limonene, boosting the calming effects of the essential oils.

Lets move on to the recipe.

Everything in one place!

The Personal Inhaler Recipe

You will want to use high quality essential oils. Please read the following blog post for more Information on how to find high quality essential oils.

You will need Bergamot CP essential oil. Cold pressed because it will not cause sensitization if exposed to the sun. If you have regular Bergamot, which is stream distilled, you can use that as well, as this will not be applied topically.

Mandarin is the second essential oils. If you don’t have mandarin, you could substitute Tangerine essential oil and expect the same results.

The last is Vanilla. Also, among the list of essential oils that have calming properties. Plus is adds a wonderful aroma to the two citrus essential oils we already have in the recipe.

You will also need a personal inhaler. I recommend the aluminum ones with the glass inserts. Some essential oils will eat away at plastic. You can find these on Amazon for a decent price.

Now lets make the inhaler.

The Personal Inhaler

Take the cotton wick and place it in a glass or metal bowl. Add the following essential oils to the wick.

  • 7 drops Bergamot CP
  • 5 drops Mandarin
  • 3 drops Vanilla

For a total of 15 drops all together. Insert the wick into the personal inhaler and place the top on.

How to Use

To use the personal inhaler, simply take one to three deep inhales from the opening of your inhaler. Repeat as needed.

The inhaler should last up to two months depending on how often you use it. Keep the lid on it when not in use to last as long as possible. When the scent begins to diminish simple reapply the essential oils to the wick.

Wrapping It Up

And there you have it. Your own personal inhaler to help relieve symptoms of anxiety and stress.
