Essential Oils for Anti-Aging

Lavender

Lavender is an all-inclusive, go to essential oil. It has a million benefits and works like a charm on almost any ailment you could imagine. It’s very soothing to red, irritated skin and helps reduce skin imperfections. Lavender is great for dry and oily skin.

It is also soothing to sensitive skin and works like a charm on mature skin and acne. It can help with scarring and stretch marks. It’s also anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. So why wouldn’t I include this in my serum?

Frankincense

Frankincense, while expensive, can pack a punch in one tiny drop. It’s great for maturing skin and helps with scarring and stretch marks. It also has a great aroma, that when combined with Lavender and the next oil for aging skin makes for a calming scent. Frankincense is also anti-bacterial, making is extra great for acne. This restorative essential oil is perfect for anti-aging serums.

Helichrysum

Helichrysum is used in a lot of anti-aging serums and skin moisturizers. It can heal skin and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It’s great for acne, eczema, and scarring. Plus is smells amazing. And with only one drop for this recipe, it won’t eat up your Helichrysum stash.

Carrier Oils for the Serum

So now that we have our three essential oils for anti-aging skin care, we need to discuss carrier oils. I’ve given you three great skin care options for carrier oils that you can choose from, but any carrier oil will work. It just depends on what properties and benefit you are looking for.

Hemp Seed Carrier Oil

I personally use Hemp Seed carrier oil because it contains omega fatty acids that can help rejuvenate the skin. It also can help with acne and eczema. It’s an anti-inflammatory as well as a anti-oxidant. Hemp oil will help smooth your skin and clear up acne scarring.

Jojoba Carrier Oil

Another great carrier oil to use is jojoba oil. It’s the carrier oil that most resembles your natural skin chemistry. It’s also great for acne-prone skin as it may speed up wound healing making it extra great at healing acne scars.  It too is anti-bacterial and an antioxidant. It won’t clog your pores and it non-irritating.

Rosehip Carrier Oil

If you have mature skin, rosehip oils is an excellent choice, as it contains anti-oxidants and vitamin C and A, as well as fatty acids such as oleic acid and linoleic acid. The vitamin C may reduce the UV light damage caused by free radicals and may help prevent dry skin. Rosehip carrier oil helps reduce wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and may even help treat acne.

Anti-Aging Serum Recipe

Going forward, lets talk about the recipe. It is super simple to make. With the number of drops used, it is at a 1.5% dilution. Typically, skin serums are at 1%, I use two drops of Lavender which bumps it up to the 1.5% If you wish, you may eliminate the second drop of lavender to bring it down to the recommended 1%. You will also need a 10ml roller bottle.

Anti-Aging – All Around Great Skin Serum
  • 2 drops Lavender (Bulgarian) Essential Oil
  • 1 drop Frankincense
  • 1 drop Helichrysum

To make your roller bottle, add the above listed drops to your bottle. Then fill to the shoulder with your carrier oil of choice. Add the roller ball and lid. Swirl to mix. Congrats! You have just created your serum with essential oils for anti-aging!

How to Use the Serum

To use, roll the serum over problem areas on your face. Smooth in with your clean fingers to be sure all is absorbed. Apply moisturizer cream over it. You could use this alone without adding moisturizer, but I prefer to use an SPF sunscreen moisturizer to protect my skins from sun exposure. Use morning and night.

When I first started using this, I noticed within two days that the redness on my cheeks had gone away. I had less acne and smoother skin. Essential oils for aging skin to the rescue!
