The Aphrodisiac Essential Oils

There are four essential oils used in these recipes. The main scent you smell is usually patchouli. So, if you are not a patchouli lover then this may not be for you. Just leave patchouli out of the recipes below to still gain the aphrodisiac benefits from the other three essential oils.

Patchouli Essential Oil

This first essential oil is patchouli. It may be known as the “hippy” oil by some and was very popular in the 60’s and 70’s.  While it uses the least number of drops in the two recipes below, it is one of the strongest scents you will pick up on in the blend.

Patchouli is also a good bug repellant, so using the personal aroma perfume when you will be outdoors will not only make you smell great but deter any flying critters that may bug you.

A quick note about patchouli essential oil. Do not use if you are taking aspirin, have a bleeding disorder, and before or after surgery. Patchouli essential oil is an anti-coagulant which means it inhibits blood clotting. Due to possible drug interactions avoid inhaling, using topically, or ingesting if using aspirin or blood thinners. Also avoid using internally if on diabetes medication.

Mandarin Orange Essential Oil

Mandarin orange is among the citrus essential oils and does great things for this blend. It provides a refreshing scent that adds a great citrus twist to the blend. When using any blend with citrus oils, like mandarin orange, you should use caution when exposed to sunlight. Avoid using on exposed skin if you will be in the sunlight in the next 12 to 18 hours.  Feel free to use it in areas that will be well covered by clothing such as behind the knee or between the breasts.

Vanilla Oleoresin

Vanilla essential oil isn’t really an essential oil. It is an oleoresin but still makes great use in the essential oil community. It is not that same as vanilla extract that is used for baking. So don’t mix the two up. Vanilla is a true love scent. It evokes sensual desires and adds a sweet soft scent to this blend.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Ylang Ylang is a common aphrodisiac and can be useful in warming things up between the sheets. Of the four oils used in this blend this is the least noticeable “note” I smell when using the massage blend. Perhaps you are familiar enough with this essential oil to pick out is aroma when using it. Ylang Ylang deepens the scent of this blend with desire, arousal, and excitement.

Aphrodisiac Master Blend

Master Blend

I’m going to include a master blend for you to make one 5 ml bottle of the blend. This is so you can make both the massage oil and personal aroma perfume, plus have some left over to diffuse in the bedroom if you wish.

To make the master blend put the following into a 5 ml bottle.

  • 30 drops Mandarin Orange essential oil
  • 30 drops Vanilla oleoresin
  • 30 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
  • 15 drops Patchouli essential oil

Gently swirl the bottle to combine.

Aphrodisiac Massage Oil Blend

To make a massage oil blend there are two ways to do this. Either with the master blend you created (if you chose to create it) or with individual drops from the above listed essential oils.

From the Master Blend

To make a massage oil with the master blend you will need:

  • 35 drops of the master blend
  • 4 ounces of carrier oil.

Add the 35 drops from the master blend to the 4 ounces of carrier oil. Swirl to mix the two together.

By The Individual Essential Oil

To make the massage blend without a master blend using individual essential oils you will need:

  • 10 drops mandarin orange essential oil
  • 10 drops vanilla
  • 10 drops ylang ylang essential oil
  • 5 drops patchouli essential oil
  • 4 ounces carrier oil

Add the 35 individual essential oil drops to the 4 ounces of carrier oil. Swirl to combine.

How to use the Aphrodisiac Massage Blend

Simply add a few drops of the mixed aphrodisiac massage blend to the palm of your hand and rub your hands together to warm it up. Apply to skin in slow, smooth movements. You want this to be a relaxing and arousing experience.

What Carrier Oil do i use?

While any carrier oil will work, I highly recommend using Plant Therapy’s Marvelous Massage oil blend.  It has a great “slip” and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy or gross afterwards. The Marvelous Massage Oil is all I use in my massage blends. To check it out click on the Plant Therapy Logo below and search for Marvelous Massage blend. It’s well worth it!

Aphrodisiac Personal Aroma Perfume

This aphrodisiac personal aroma perfume smells just like the aphrodisiac massage blend from above. It too is activated by a heating sensation. Applying it to your pulse points will send a beautifully blended aroma all around you. Again, there are two ways to make this.

From the Master Blend

To make the personal aroma perfume from the aphrodisiac master blend you will need the following:

  • 4 drops Master Blend
  • 10 ml of carrier oil
  • 10 ml roller ball bottle

From your master blend add the four drops to a 10ml roller ball and top off with fractionated coconut oil or carrier oil of your choice. Swirl to mix.

by The Individual Essential Oil

To make the aphrodisiac personal aroma perfume without the master blend and by the individual essential oil you will need:

  • 1 drop mandarin orange
  • 1 drop vanilla
  • 1 drop ylang ylang
  • ½ drop patchouli*

Add the first three drops to a ten ml roller ball bottle. Top off with fractionated coconut oil or carrier oil of choice.

* It’s hard to get a half of drop of any oil so for this I suggest you take a toothpick and dip it into your bottle of patchouli about a half an inch. Enough oil should remain on the toothpick to add the scent to your roller ball. Just dip the toothpick into the filled roller ball bottle and swirl. Another suggestion is just using a full drop of patchouli oil. It will be a little bit stronger on the patchouli but will still smell great.

Once the roller cap is on swirl to mix.

How to Use the Aphrodisiac Personal Aroma Perfume

For best aroma apply the roller ball to your pulse points such as your wrist, behind the knees, behind your ears or between your breasts.
